Alpha Gamma Delta establishes a strong academic foundation for all members and encourages them to reach for their best. Our Academic Excellence Team provides members with resources and motivation to excel. They also keep members current on available scholarships, study abroad programs, tutoring assistance, job interview and resume skills training, internships and career counseling.
Academic success is celebrated in Alpha Gamma Delta—both as a group and individually. In addition to chapter-wide recognition for academic achievement, the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation awards scholarships to more than 150 deserving sisters across the U.S. and Canada.
Information about Academics in AGD Zeta Theta:
Academics are of the utmost importance to AGDs at Lafayette. For the past two years, we have maintained an average GPA over 3.6, making us the chapter on campus with the highest aggregate GPA. Additionally, at the 2016 Alpha Gamma Delta Convention, our chapter won an award recognizing us for our academic excellence.
We realize that our members are students first and we require everyone to succeed academically. Our chapter’s Vice President of Academic Excellence helps sisters utilize campus resources for academic assistance, she evaluates our chapter’s activities in order to make sure the member experience is fostering an environment that champions academic success, and offers incentives, like gift cards, for academic success. To keep our sisters accountable, our VP Academic Excellence prepares an academic plan each year. This academic plan includes mandatory study hours for all newly initiated sisters, provides members with the best resources possible to excel in their classes, and tracks weekly study hours to help each individual and the chapter achieve our scholastic goals. Alpha Gamma Delta has made a commitment to academic excellence for the individual and the chapter, and we have set goals to ensure that academic achievement remains a priority.
Each semester the Fraternity recognizes all members who obtain a 3.14 or higher grade point average as part of the Strive for Pi program. Our chapter also hosts a yearly lunch for Alpha Gamma Delta scholars and their Professors.
Our chapter is proud to have sisters studying almost all of the disciplines that Lafayette has to offer. It is never hard to find a sister to study with, a sister to whom one can seek help on a tricky assignment, or even a sister to provide guidance during course registration. Our chapter continually strives to live up to the opening statement of our Purpose: “To gain understanding that wisdom may be vouchsafed to me.”
